One day when I'd been in Imi for about three months, and had gotten used to seeing Doña Justina work all day without sitting down or taking a break, I happened to pass by while she was grinding corn. She stood up, put her hands in the small of her back, sighed, and stretched backwards. It wasn't apparent in her shape, but I suddenly intuited that she was pregnant. Jesenia was born the next day. Doña Justina was back to grinding corn a couple days later.
