This is, as it were, a detail shot of my garden shortly before I left Imi. My father sent me ancient black mustard seed from his kitchen spice shelf; germination was predicably poor, but the plants that came up were prolific (and the mustard was delicious). It seems cabbage is an especially productive plant in Ingre, and always does well. Garlic, onions, and broccoli produce well in Winter. Mung beans (just visible in the lower left corner) did surprizingly well, and only took two months to mature. Wheat production wasn't spectacular, but it did okay if the sun wasn't too hot when it was little.
Both my garden and my chaco were filled with dozens of crops that I'm not mentioning here. Most of them were failures, one way or another. The way I saw it, a failed crop was not a failed experiment. Failing was what I was in Imi to do.
