The Cañón del Ingre is considered part of the Chaco, a hot, dry scrubland that covers much of Paraguay and Northern Argentina, as well as southern Bolivia. Ingre probably gets too much rain to be considered Chaco in the strictest geographical sense (though it gets precious little); in our case, the term has more to do with culture.
