Pochi is another story. He is insane. He cannot stand to be left alone. If someone takes Pisafuego away, Pochi gets terribly upset, running around, snorting, acting dangerous. Worse, somebody must have abused him and hit him on the head when he was little; you can scratch him gently on the nose, or pet him on the flank, but if your hands get anywhere near his ears he goes beserk, and really is dangerous, bucking and jumping around. He kicked me once, and I couldn't walk straight for three weeks. All this makes getting him in harness a little tiresome (Cruz can get his bridle on in about 30 seconds, it takes me about five minutes, and nobody else can do it in less than half an hour).
On the other hand, once you have a rope on him he will follow you anywhere: I've never had to tug. In fact, if you let the rope drop after a while, he'll still follow you. More importantly, once he's harnessed up he is a perfectly well-behaved and absolutely tireless worker (unlike Pisafuego he's only ten years old), immune to heat, and very rarely distracted.
I am proud to take credit for his name. In Guaraní, Pochi means "ugly", "mean", "evil", "angry", and "excellent".
