Despite all the these images of plowing, it didn't take us long to realize that horse traction is not really an appropriate farming technology in the Cañón del Ingre ... at least not for the Guaraní ... at least not now. It can be done; Don Roberto and other big landowners did it until forty or fifty years ago, and we did it on a smaller scale in Imi, but a number of factors make it relatively unsuitable.

I'm going to describe two of these, because animal traction is the kind of sexy, hands-on activity that romances organizations like MCC into assuming it's always going to be appropriate, when in fact it requires the same careful consideration as anything else.
